The last four months have been so special to be together with our little family. We ended it with a FIBA break bang in Southern France! Hopped on a late night flight and headed for warmer weather for a few days.
We stayed up in the mountains of Beausoleil, above Monaco. Our hosts were the sweetest French couple who made us feel right at home & even brought over some homemade applesauce for Logan.
We did some morning grocery shopping at Carrefour in Monaco to start our day. I hadn't shopped at a Carrefour since my mission in Brazil! :')
This was the perfect destination for us. We LOVE the mountains and we LOVE the ocean. Putting those two things together was pretty perfect.
The tiny Monaco streets were empty on Monday morning and we had the city to ourselves for the hour.
Logan quickly learned none of these cabinets had locks on them and the fridge was his perfect height! We spent as much time pulling him out of the fridge as we did cooking and eating.
I had found a running trail I wanted to try. My boys dropped me off and I headed out to finish my training for the day. It was BEAUTIFUL. The nature and scenery definitely helped distract from the constant inclines and declines I climbed.
I'm so proud of myself and my body for this half marathon training. It pushes me and I'm excited about the end goal. I never would have found this trail had it not been for my training schedule to keep me accountable.
We drove to Nice to check out the market, watch some birds, and eat macarons!!!
Our favorite part of the day. <3 we sat in the Nice blue chairs over looking the ocean, watching Logan point and talk to all of the birds. Music isn't his go to anymore to make him happy when he's sad. We tell him we'll go find a bird or a dog and he cheers right up haha.
Okay... Miss Rachel makes him pretty happy too. :')
Brynn and Jamie had visited Southern France a couple of weeks before us. On their recommendation we went to Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat to explore that peninsula. The weather was overcast and it sprinkled a little bit on us but we were so happy.
Hi ocean!!
My camera man getting all of the best shots for our video he put together. Logan was just along for the ride. Ha!
The landscape along our trail was incredible and I loved all of the olive trees growing around us. The olive trees reminded me of Italy in September with Mom. One of my new favorite trees! I love the sage green color & what they symbolize.
Had to take a quick drive back to Monaco to snap a picture of the fancy casino! & get some tomato soup & grilled cheese supplies for dinner. Eight times out of ten, I'd prefer eating at home than out at a restaurant. It was the perfect ending to our day, eating as a family of three at our airbnb, looking out over the city.
Menton wasn't on our list of places to go, but we went anyway and it was one of my favorite parts of the trip!! It was definitely more touristy than the other places we visited & I loved the brightly colored buildings and shops.
Haha this was one of those rare two times out of ten moments we ate in a restaurant. Logan did pretty well & we felt like we could relax & enjoy being there.
Orange, lemon, and lime trees everywhere!! We had some fresh oranges from our host's garden and they were *chef's kiss*.
Had to touch the water one more time before leaving! It was the brightest, prettiest blue color. We couldn't believe it.
Our last morning, the sun FINALLY came out! Haha that's just the way it goes sometimes.
This was the view out of our apartment. The main highlight of where we stayed was the hot tub. Some of my favorite moments from the trip were running out to the hot tub after Logan went to bed. Good conversations with my #1 & beautiful views.
Bye olive trees! I want to plant some of you in my yard one day.
We took advantage of the sunshine and I showed Justin and Logan my running trail.
SUCH a great trip. The perfect amount of time away. We felt recharged & ready to go back into real life.
& ready to be sick again... because that's what happens when two tired parents let their baby run around the airport touching and licking everything!! Oh well. We're all healthy again, thankfully.
